چکیده

Lesions were placed bilaterally in the medial and basolateral amygdaloid nuclei of adult female deermice (P. m. bairdii) by means of a Radio Frequency Lesion Maker with a current of 20 \g=m\A/30 sec. It was found that females with lesions in the basolateral amygdaloid nucleus exhibited normal cyclic vaginal smears and mating activities. However, 30% of the females exhibited hypersexuality as evaluated by excessive mating and reception of the male during dioestrus. Females with lesions in the medial amygdaloid nucleus exhibited normal

Central genomic regulation of the expression of oestrous behaviour in dairy cows: a review.

The expression of oestrous behaviour in Holstein Friesian dairy cows has progressively decreased over the past 50 years. Reduced oestrus expression is one of the factors contributing to the current suboptimal reproductive efficiency in dairy farming. Variation between and within cows in the expression of oestrous behaviour is associated with variation in peripheral blood oestradiol concentratio...

The effect of reversible inactivation of the central amygdaloid nucleus on cardiovascular responses in rats with renal hypertension

The brain rennin-angiotensin system (RAS) has an important role in the regulation of cardiovascular function. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of reversible inactivation of the central amygdaloid nucleus (Ace) in normotensive rats and rats with renal hypertension (2K-1C). Two groups of normotensive rats were selected for this study. In one group, hypertension was induced...

A comparison of acute pain thresholds between the male and female and the effect of alcoholic Datura stramonium seed extract on it

Introduction: Opposite observations about the discrepancy in the pain perception between male and female has been reported. In this regard, pain thresholds among male and female rats in different phases of oestrous cycle were evaluated via tail immersion test. In addition, efficiency of alcoholic extract of datura stramonium as an analgesic plant in the modulation of acute pain threshold has be...

The effect of exposure to oestrous ewes on rams' sexual behaviour, plasma testosterone concentration and ability to stimulate ovulation in seasonally anoestrous ewes.

Previous research has shown that the proportion of seasonal anoestrous ewes that ovulate in response to the introduction of rams ('ram effect') is dependent upon pheromonal and sexual behavioural stimuli emitted by the rams. Close contact with oestrous ewes is likely to increase the rams' libido and level of testosterone secretion, which in turn has been suggested to positively influence the pr...
